Ingredients

  • For the Meatloaf:
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • For the “Mummy” Wrapping:
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 2 black olives sliced for eyes
  • 2 tbsp ketchup for glaze

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape mixture into a loaf on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 30–35 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven, brush with ketchup glaze.
  6. Cut puff pastry into thin strips and wrap loosely around the loaf to mimic mummy bandages.
  7. Place olive slices near the top for eyes.
  8. Return to oven and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until pastry is golden and meatloaf is cooked through (internal temp 160°F).
  9. Serve warm and spooky.

Notes

  • Use crescent roll dough instead of puff pastry for softer bandages.
  • Try ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Add ketchup or barbecue sauce under the pastry for extra flavor.
