Method
 

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy (5–10 min).
  2. Add flour, butter, salt, and egg. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead on floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour.
  5. Punch down dough and divide into 8–10 pieces. Roll into balls.
  6. Tie each ball loosely with kitchen twine into 8 sections to mimic pumpkin ridges.
  7. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and rise 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove twine carefully. Insert pecan halves as “stems.”
